Common questions

What people usually ask first

How does a name search work?

Describe what you're naming and BetterNamer generates candidates, checks domain availability, and scores each one.

Which domains do you check?

The popular TLDs by default (.com, .net, .org, .io, .ai, .co) — and you can extend the list per search.

Is the trademark check legal advice?

No — it's a fast screening signal. For a clearance opinion, work with a trademark attorney before you commit.

Can I buy a domain through BetterNamer?

Yes — when an available domain looks right, you can register it directly from a search result.

Where are my saved searches?

Once you're signed in, your searches live on your home view — pin the ones you're actively comparing.

Tell BetterNamer what you're naming and a little about the vibe you're after. It generates a batch of name candidates, checks domain availability across your chosen TLDs, scores each option, and surfaces the strongest results so you can compare them side by side and refine from there.
By default we check the popular extensions — .com, .net, and .org — so you get a quick read on availability. You can extend the list per search to include options like .io, .ai, .app, .dev, and .co when those fit your project better.
For a taken domain, the WHOIS lookup shows its current status along with registration, last-updated, and expiration dates and the registrar of record. A deeper lookup can surface registrant, admin, and technical contact details where the registry makes them public. It's the fastest way to size up a domain that's already registered.
No. The trademark search screens your candidate names against USPTO records and flags potential conflicts so you can steer clear of obvious problems early. It's a signal, not a clearance opinion — before you commit to a name, work with a trademark attorney for a proper review.
Yes. When an available domain looks right, you can register it directly from a search result. After purchase, your domains appear under Domains, where we keep registration and renewal dates in sync and handle renewals and transfers for you.
Once you're signed in, your searches are saved to your account and shown on your home view. You can rename them, favorite the ones you're actively comparing, and hide or delete the rest — they're waiting for you each time you come back.
